Stool V2
Continuing stool design started from V1 the round shape. The design was originally aimed to explore CNC fabricated plywood furniture system. By utilizing streamlined cut and assemble method for faster process, it is hoped that the cost of furniture making would drop significantly. As the exploration continues, one of the design goals becomes more specifically about softening the hard-edge looking style which is commonly seen in CNC machined furniture. It is not that the unique style is aesthetically unpleasing, rather it is so unique that plywood furniture often seems hard to fit into existing interior scene setup, thus making it hard to market towards broader audience. To deal with this concern, details in curved form, cut surface and colored finish are introduced. The fabrication is sponsored by St. Joseph Studio Workshop (SJSW) for tools and material.
